Art cafes, art shops, art auctioneers and art museums
These two areas of Dubai with art galleries, art cafes or art shops are highly recommended for a visit.
1. Bastakiya (or Bastakia) in Bur Dubai all galleries within walking distance of each other and near the Dubai Museum. It's a nice walk around the historical and scenic part of Dubai with the Wind Towers. It dates from the 1890s, where residents originally earned money from pearl diving. In the 1990s the Dubai Government bought most residents out and started renovating or rebuilding the historic buildings, along with a number of art galleries and cafes being opened.
2. Al Quoz Industrial Area. Al Quoz really is an industrial area so don't stop when first seeing the area. Search and you'll find new, refreshing artistic oases in the desert. |
